March
4th to 10th, 2011. From the Sydney side, we had to plan and prepare for our Visitors from the West, and make sure everything went well. The weather was very kind to us, and Sydney turned on some beautiful sunny days. All the functions organised by us were well attended, proving to be very successful in bonding the two Clubs closer together, and starting the possibility of an annual Interstate Event, with Melbourne Hellenic Bowling Club taking part in the future. THE CHALLENGE. Wednesday the 9th: Each State team selected 16 (top?) players to play for the shield, while the rest of the bowlers played Social Games. The NSW side put up a valiant effort, but finally went down to the more experienced WA Club, which last year celebrated their 20th Anniversary. So the Bank of Cyprus Shield has gone to the West, (On a temporary Basis,) to be added for a year to the many trophies inside the WA Trophy Cabinet. WELL DONE BOYS. I like to thank the Members of our Association, and in particular those members of my committee who put that EXTRA effort for the organization and Success of the Challenge. (In Particular the members who met me twice a week at “The Table of Wisdom” in the local coffee lounge, where all the ideas and eventual decisions were made.) Many thanks to all the helpers, and the donors of Raffle prizes, To the Management of the Bank of Cyprus Mr Con Pavlou, and the Managing Director of Frutex Australia Mr, Peter Mageros. John Prineas.
